Our Mission
River Community Church exists to glorify God, make disciples, grow in fellowship and community, and proclaim the truth of God’s Word as gospel-centered believers.
Our Values
Gospel-Centered
At River Community Church we seek to be Gospel-Centered in all areas of our own individual lives and our church. This means that we live a life in reliance upon the blood-bought grace and promises which come from the good news of Jesus Christ’s life, death, and resurrection as written of in both the Old and New Testaments. Everything flows from this truth and defines who we are, leading us to embrace a life that displays and treasures it.
Scriptural Basis: 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 3:14; Hebrews 4:16; Romans 8:1-11; Hebrews 10:22; James 4:8; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; 2 Thessalonians 2:13-15; 2 Corinthians 3:18; Philippians 1:21; 1 Corinthians 15:3
Worship
We hold a high view of the Biblical Triune God. He is the focus of our worship and we seek to make much of Him in all things. Within scripture He has commanded us to worship Him and prescribed how we are to do so. Therefore we worship God with purpose, not just in Sunday services, but also within our families, at home, in the community, in the workplace, and everywhere else in God’s creation.
Scriptural Basis: 1 Corinthians 10:31; Psalm 8; Ephesians 3: 21; John 4:23; Romans 11:33-36; Colossians 1:15-17; Romans 12:1
Discipleship
A Christian is more than just a convert, they are a disciple of Christ. At River Community Church a disciple is someone who is willing to submit to the discipline and instruction of Jesus Christ, grow and walk in the light and truth of His Word, and serve the local church. This happens through a committed membership to a local church under the shepherding care of elders, instruction and fellowship outside of Sunday worship, and active attendance each Sunday to hear the Word proclaimed.
Scriptural Basis: John 17:14-19; 2 Timothy 2:2; Ephesians 4:11-14
Community
At River Community Church we maintain that Scripture calls all disciples to be in loving, committed, Christian fellowship and community with one another. We are a group of individuals united by Christ that seek to foster genuine fellowship, mutual concern, and love in the life of the congregation. We believe that programs are no substitute for holy and compassionate relationships as we aim to be what God calls us to be: a family of families that naturally and practically care for and disciple one another in the good times and the bad.
Scriptural Basis: Acts 2:42-47; 1 Thessalonians 5:14-15; 2 Timothy 2:22; Psalm 133:1; 1 John 4:11; John 13:34-35; Ephesians 4:16; Hebrews 10:23-25; 2 Corinthians 8:3-5; 1 Corinthians 12:25-27; Ephesians 2:19-22
Outreach & Mission
As stewards of the Good News of Jesus Christ, we seek to serve the kingdom of God and build up the Church in our local community, our nation, and throughout the world. It is achieved through Christian education, evangelism, church planting, theological education, mercy ministries, and much more. This is the work of the local and global church, to make disciples of all nations.
